If only in my dreams

I'll be home for Christmas,
You can count on me.
Please have snow and mistletoe
And presents under the tree.
Christmas Eve will find me,
Where the love light gleams.
I'll be home for Christmas,
If only in my dreams.

I heard that song no less than five times yesterday. It seems both appropriate and taunting at the same time. I think about what the song says and so much of it is true. I will be home for Christmas in my heart. I think the day will be hard for me, even with good friends to adopt me for the day. Nothing is like home and there is no holiday like Christmas. I LOVE Christmas because it means that there will be one day when my family will all be together (whether that one day happens to be on December 25 or another day close to it is rather insignificant to us). This year that won't happen, and I will be the one missing. I will much more likely see snow and mistletoe here than I would back home (please have sun and open toe shoes?). Christmas Eve will find me at work for most of the day. I did get enough time off of work to go to church for the 8:30 service and then come in to work as soon as the service ends. I'll end up working from around 10:00-5:00, then go to the evening service at church and stay with my friends for the night and spend Christmas with them as well. It's still not home, however. I'll be home for Christmas, if only in my dreams.

Your post made me sad :(

I'm sorry you won't be home for Christmas, but I KNOW the Lord has a purpose for that. I'm sure you will have a wonderful time anyways. Wherever you are, Angie, you will always be surrounded with tons of people that love you!

Thanks, Sarah. It's part of the process of growing up and being on my own. I knew it would happen, but I didn't expect to happen as soon as it did. It allows me to become more involved in the lives of the people here where I live. THIS is where I live. Nothing, however, can replace one's own family, and I will certainly miss them (and California weather).
