Little League

I went to a Little League baseball game this evening after work with a couple of co-workers. Two of the kids we work with had a game and invited us to come watch them. It was fun to see them play. Apparently this was a big game for them, so I am glad we were able to make it. They won a very close game 2-1 and the other team threatened to score a couple of times. I am so glad they won. To see the dejected look one of them had after a bad at-bat was rough. I do not even want to know what it would have been like to see him lose. Tomorrow we can praise them for their team's victory, and that's a good thing!

I may try to work two part-time jobs to make ends meet, at least for a little while. I would like to keep working with kids, I think, at least for now. I do find myself enjoying it! Part-time jobs are also a little bit easier to come by, even if the pay is not impressive. I might be able to work 50 hours per week that way, too, which would help things a bit.

50 hours a week! That is a lot. But then I know Americans often work longer hours.

The long hours culture that you have there really puts me off the USA.

God Bless

Yes, it is a lot, and not even close to being ideal. I would prefer 40 hours at a higher pay, but when one has no guarantee of a decent wage, one does what one must to make ends meet.

50 hours a lot, Angie.

The Lord will open the door soon and give you a job you enjoy, 40 hours a week and at a good pay. You'll see :)

Just do what I did after I finished school. I applied ALLLLL OVER MONTREAL. I kept on receiving calls even a month I accepted this position, and you have ten times the cv I have ;)

Wow, 50 hours is a lot my dear little bug cohabitator! I'm still praying for you! God will provide in one way or another. :)

I'm not going to repeat everyone else and say "Oh my goodness! 50 hours?" If you can handle it, go for it. I'm gonna take 15 hrs and (hopefully) work a couple of part-time jobs this fall semester. Not that working yourself to death is necessarily a good thing, but for us single gals it's a good way to keep busy (and out of trouble in my case).

Carey, thanks for being understanding. I say that because there is a position I know I can have that is similar to what I am doing now, through the Boys & Girls Club at an elementary school. I would work 7-9 am and 3-6 pm every day. That's 25 hours. Another 5 hour per day job would add up to 50 per week. It would make for long days, but I really do need the money!

Applying all over Montreal and applying all over Binghamton are two different things, I am afraid. There is virtually no job market here whatsoever without specialized training.

Shieryl, I just want to pay the bills! (When you say anything about bugs in a comment it makes me think at first that you are my sister, since she calls me Bug all the time.)
