I would hereby like to declare a difference between modest and frumpy. (For context see post and comments on Dyspraxicfundamentalist - Worldview.) This is me. I took this picture just a few minutes ago to illustrate the point. I received several compliments today on how cute my clothes were. Modest? I think so. Frumpy? Unanimously not. I look modest today, not frumpy! There is a difference and one can exist without the other. :)In other news, I went to the grocery store after church (along with everyone else in the Southern Tier New York/Northern Tier Pennsylvania area) and found some guanabana nectar in the international foods section. Guanabana is a fruit found in Central America (among other places), and I first had guanabana juice in Costa Rica last year. It has a very unique taste, but I like it. I also purchased some Pocky (Japanese "chocolate covered biscuit sticks" - they're like unsalted hard pretzels dipped in chocolate) as a special little treat for myself. I consider my international purchases worth fighting the crowds in the store. (Matthew, I checked for Colman's mustard and did not see it, and if this store doesn't carry it I doubt that any others in the area would. It is, however, available for purchase online.)

You do look nice.
I agree that frumpy and modest are two different things (though I question the value of the term 'frumpy'). However, a lot of the time people apply the term frumpy to clothes that are very modest and in my opinion, very pretty.
Colman's is the best mustard ever.

Angie, you are gorgeous, that is certainly not frumpy!!! You look very nice and modest.
I never had guanabana before, but I love exotic fruit; is that considered exotic fruit?
And I certainly never had pocky before but that sounds really yummy! Oh, now I'm in the mood for sweets!
*I deleted the comment above, because, go figure, sarah had a typo - hopeless case over here)
I know what you mean by frumpy - absolutely ...boring, hiding in your clothes, having just let things go ...
Nice outfit! You are definately not frumpy!
having just let things go
Yes, Rose! That's what the essence of frumpy is to me - you start looking like you don't care or don't take care of yourself. I know you think the word is often misapplied, Matthew, but I don't think that lessens it's value. I know I started the frumpy discussion, and I am standing by my use of it. Tell me you have never seen someone who looked frumpy, honestly, and then we might be able to debate the value of the term. ;) I am attempting to uphold the fact that modesty and fashion can, in fact, co-exist.
Thanks all for the kind words. I was, as usual, a walking Old Navy ad today.
Sarah, I would call guanabana exotic, as I think it is a rather unknown thing outside of the tropics. If exotic is not the right term, tropical is certainly accurate!
Matthew, will you promise to let me try Colman's?
Awwwe... you look so cute! Love your outfit!
You can definitely try it. It is quite hot, though.
I can usually take at least some heat. My family usually has a small bottle of jalapeno mustard at home. While the mustard itself is not hot, the jalapenos give it some nice zip. And you didn't say whether you had run into anything legitimately frumpy or not.
Yes, I think I have run into such a mode of attire.
Jalapeno mustard sounds great. But I would not want to be unfaithful to my beloved Colman's.

No, I would not dream of asking infidelity of you!
awww, you look pretty!!! :)
Awww, thank you, Shieryl. :)
